Gary Alviar, age 63, of Olympia, Washington, died May 1, 2019, at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia. He was born March 26, 1956, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Nicasio and Frieda Alviar.

He married Carrie (Halbert) Alviar on Aug. 25, 1979, in Aberdeen.

Gary enjoyed fishing, clam digging and kite flying.

He is survived by his brother Nick Alviar of Aberdeen; three sisters Mary Drake and Gwen Keller both of Aberdeen and Clara Moody on Hoquiam; nephews Bryce Vordahl of Bonney Lake, Washington and Kyle Vodahl of Aberdeen; as well as numerous other nephews and nieces.

A potluck celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge, 624 K Street in Hoquiam.
