Tracey Harris, a Robert Gray Elementary School teacher, died unexpectedly this weekend, according to a report from Aberdeen Superintendent Alicia Henderson.
Harris died Sunday night after a brief illness, according to the superintendent’s post on the Aberdeen School District Website. Harris was a fourth-grade teacher who was new at Robert Gray this year after teaching sixth grade at Stevens Elementary School last year.
She came to the district from Twin Falls, Idaho, where she had been a teacher for the past six years. She was also Robert Gray’s Math Olympiad coach.
Robert Gray Principal Jamie Dunn prepared a letter for the school families, which says “all of us here at school are shocked and saddened” by the news.
“Although she was a recent addition to our school staff, it was apparent to me that Mrs. Harris was connecting with her students, and making a difference in their education and their lives,” Dunn wrote.
Dunn added, asking that if their students need assistance or guidance following Harris’ passing, they let the school know.
