Michael David Tacy, 67 years old and a resident of Ocean Shores, Wash., died on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash. He had suffered a recent heart attack and had been critically ill for the last few weeks. He was born on Aug. 16, 1949, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Arthur J. Tacy and Eileen (Beauchemin) Tacy.
Mike was raised in Dannemora, N.Y., and graduated from Dannemora High School in 1967. While in school, he played on the varsity basketball, baseball and soccer teams, as well as played trumpet in the high school band. He then attended universities in Ohio and Florida.
Mike served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a military policeman stationed at Danang Air Force Base in South Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a licensed building contractor in California and Washington.
Michael David Tacy was married to Cheri Lynn Tacy in Rocklin, Calif. in August 2003. They resided in California, prior to moving to Moclips, Wash. in 2006, where Mike started a home construction business, Seaside Builders. In 2010, Mike and Cheri temporarily moved back East to become caregivers for Mike’s dad. They returned to Washington in 2013, and have resided since in Ocean Shores.
Mike was a very gregarious and fun loving character. He loved being with family and friends, sharing camaraderie and stories. His larger than life “laugh” was infectious. He equally enjoyed reliving tales from the past or debating the future of the world! Fortunately, he never took himself or life too seriously. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Cheri Lynn Tacy of the Ocean Shores family home; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert J. Tacy and Madeline Tacy of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; his nephews, Chris Tacy of Cary, N.C., Mark Tacy of San Jose, Calif. and Shannon Tacy of San Jose, Calif.; his step-son, Patrick Scott Purves of Aberdeen; his step-daughter, Tristen Rene Potter of Everett; his step-grandson, Treven Purves of Aberdeen; his godmother, Marge Camfield of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his cousin, Debbie Alphonso, of West Chazy, N.Y. along with other relatives.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Faith Community Church, 240 Canal Drive S.E. in Ocean Shores with Pastor Jeff Snow presiding. The services will conclude at the church with a light lunch with family and friends to follow.
