Raymond 21, Vashon Island 7
Raymond running back Joseph Villalpando accounted for over 200 yards of total offense to lead the Seagulls to a 21-7 non-league victory over Vashon Island on Friday at Raymond High School.
Villalpando ran for 127 yards on 27 carries and caught three passes for 89 yards to lead the Seagulls (4-5, 3-2 Pacific 2B). The junior ball-carrier scored the first two touchdowns of the game, breaking loose for a 43-yard scoring run in the first quarter and catching a 44-yard TD pass on the final play of the third quarter.
Raymond took a 21-0 lead on Jose Delgado’s 19-yard scoring run with 5:45 left in the fourth quarter. Delgado finished the game with 40 yards rushing.
Vashon Island (0-9, 0-5 Nisqually) spoiled the Seagulls’ shutout bid when running back Richard Rivas-Gutierrez scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:26 left in the game
With Raymond’s leading rusher McCartney Maden out of action due to an injury, freshman running back Iyven Perez ran for 62 yards on eight carries in reserve of Maden.
Raymond head coach Luke Abbott praised his offense in the way they stepped up in Maden’s absence.
“Offensively, I felt we did a very good job moving the ball throughout the game,” Abbott said. “(Perez) is a freshman but he showed his ability to help us out both tonight and in the future. … Joseph Villalpando did a great job carrying the load tonight. … We knew he had to step up and he did.”
The win gives Raymond the third seed out of the Coastal Division and a crossover game at Toledo (5-3, 3-1 Central 2B) at 7 p.m. on Friday.

WF West 56, Aberdeen 28
Aberdeen’s upset bid was spoiled as the Bobcats were outscored by 21 points after halftime in a 56-28 loss to WF West on Friday in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen (3-6 overall, 2-3 Evergreen 2A) held serve with WF West (8-1, 4-1) in the first half.
The Bobcats took an early 6-0 lead on a 10-yard touchdown run by running back Ethan Morrill in the first quarter.
WF West scored a touchdown on the ensuing kick return, but the extra-point attempt failed as Aberdeen held on to a slim 7-6 lead.
Aberdeen regained the lead when senior running back Dylan Richie scored on a 2-yard run later in the quarter, making it a 12-7 ballgame.
But WF West took the lead with less than a minute to go in the quarter on a 22-yard passing play for a 14-12 advantage.
With nine minutes to go in the second quarter, WF West extended its lead to 21-12 on a short touchdown run.
Richie cut into the lead with a 3-yard TD run at the four minute mark. Aberdeen’s Cody Beemis hit Connar Sherman for a two-point conversion that cut the Bearcats’ lead to 21-20.
After another short WF West TD run, Richie scored on a 1-yard run and ran in the subsequent conversion to tie the game at 28-28 with a minute left in the half.
But WF West converted an 11-yard pass play to score with less than a minute to go in the quarter, making it a 35-28 game at halftime.
The second half belonged to the Bearcats, as quarterback Josiah Johnson threw two touchdown passes and the Bearcats’ defense scored on a pick-6 interception return with five minutes left in the game to earn the 56-28 victory.
The loss puts Aberdeen in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots in the 2A Evergreen League.
Aberdeen will face Centralia and Black Hills in a Kansas tie-breaker in Centralia on Tuesday to determine the league’s No. 3 and No. 4 seeds heading into the crossover round.

Hoquiam 42, Forks 13
Malaki Eaton ran for over 300 yards and three touchdowns as Hoquiam closed out the regular season with a 42-13 victory over Forks on Friday in Olympic Stadium.
Eaton shouldered the load for the Grizzlies on Friday, carrying the ball 39 times for 303 yards as Hoquiam racked up 517 yards of total offense.
Eaton scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter to give Hoquiam the early lead, but Forks tied the game with 8:11 to go in the second quarter on a 36-yard pass from quarterback Carter Windle to running back Hayden Baker, tying the game at 6-6.
From that point on the game belonged to Hoquiam.
The Grizzlies (5-3, 2-1 Evergreen 1A) regained the lead on a 20-yard run by Eaton followed by a 52-yard scoring dash by quarterback Dane McMillan, giving Hoquiam a 20-6 lead at the half.
The Grizzlies put the game to bed in the second half. Receiver Kyle Larsen scored on a 14-yard pass from McMillan in the third followed by an Eaton 2-yard scoring run early in the fourth to make it a 36-6 ballgame.
Cameron Bumstead scored on a 73-yard punt return with 8:09 left in the game to give Hoquiam a 42-6 lead.
Forks’ Antonio Farias scored a late touchdown to round out the scoring at 42-13.
Hoquiam head coach Jeremy McMillan reflected on how far Eaton had come since breaking his leg in a practice last season.
“He slowly worked his way back in and has the ability to do special things when he runs,” said Coach McMillan, who also praised his offensive line’s performance. “I thought we played a good game up front and all around.”
Hoquiam will enter the crossover round as the 2A Evergreen League’s No. 2 seed and will face the Trico League’s No. 2 seed, Castle Rock (7-2, 4-1), at 7 p.m. on Friday at Castle Rock High School.
The two teams are familiar with each other as Hoquiam beat Castle Rock 48-12 to open the season.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 48, Ilwaco 8
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s Kollin Jurek had one of the best games of his career with 201 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the Titans 48-8 road win over Ilwaco on Friday.
PWV (6-3, 5-0 Pacific 2B) had its run game working on a night where it racked up 427 yards on the ground and got the scoring started with a 1-yard touchdown run from Max Smith at 11:08 in the first quarter.
Titans quarterback Tyler Adkins contributed to the run game as well with a 10-yard touchdown run at 6:38 to put PWV up 13-0.
Adkins got the job done with his arm on the next possession with a 19-yard pass to receiver Sam Western at 10:48 in the second quarter to push the Titans’ lead to 19-0.
Ilwaco (4-5, 2-3) got on the board with a touchdown at 5:45 in the second quarter, but PWV’s Landin Isaken responded with 43 seconds left before halftime with 4-yard touchdown run to bring the score to 28-7.
Jurek had been a key part of the ground game all night and finally broke through with a score of his own on a 15-yard run at 11:31 in the third.
The Titans’ next two touchdowns came on big run plays as Smith broke one off for 46-yards and Jurek rounded out the scoring for his team with a 64-yard run to the house late in the third quarter.
Titans assistant coach John Peterson had high praise for Jurek, who led the team in rushing yards and tallied a team-leading seven tackles.
“We played very well tonight again. Kollin Jurek was just outstanding,” he said. “We’re very pleased with the progress he’s making. Kollin was just outstanding.”
PWV will take on Rainier in a home crossover game on Friday. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Ocosta 61, Chief Leschi 0
Ocosta put up 40 points in the first quarter alone en route to a 61-0 victory over Chief Leschi on Friday at Griffin Field in Ocosta.
Ocosta quarterback Cole Hatton threw five touchdowns in the game as Ocosta (8-1, 4-1 Pacific 2B) earned a running clock with just eight minutes elapsed in the game.
Hatton went over 3,000 yards passing in his prep career in the game.
“This is Cole’s third year in the system and he’s really taken over the position and owned it,” said Ocosta head coach Chris Raffleson, who added Hatton’s pre-snap recognition of the defense has helped make Ocosta’s offense that much more dangerous. “With this (run-pass option) offense, he has the liberty to change the plays. He reads stuff so well and he has a lot of fun out there.”
Wildcats running back Dakota Davis also had a landmark game against the Warriors (2-7, 1-4) broke assistant coach Keith Beck’s all-time single-season school receiving record of 624 yards by going over 700 yards after Friday’s game.
Ocosta enters the crossover round as the second-seed out of the Coastal Division and will host Adna (4-3, 1-2), the No. 3 seed out of the 2B Pacific League’s Mountain Division, at 7 p.m. on Friday.
“We can’t seem to get away from them,” quipped Raffelson, whose team lost to Adna 49-0 in last season’s crossover game. “They’re a great team and we’ll work hard getting ready for them.”
South Bend 48, Lake Quinault 6
Chase Flynn rushed for nearly 200 yards and four touchdowns as South Bend upended Lake Quinault 48-6 on Saturday at Lake Quinault High School.
Flynn carried the ball nine times for 192 yards and had touchdown runs of 46, 15, 11 and 20 yards as South Bend opened up a 48-0 lead before Lake Quinault scored in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout.
Flynn also hit receiver Mayson Estle on a 45-yard touchdown pass as the Indians out-gained the Elks 338-115.
South Bend’s Hunter Clements and Uriel Zeferino also scoring rushing touchdowns in the game. Clements scored on a 25-yard run in the first quarter and Zeferino scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter.
