Driver with suspended license flees after hitting pole

Driver charged with same offense twice in two weeks

A driver fled the scene after hitting a pole and injuring a passenger in the 800 block of Simpson Avenue in Hoquiam at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Hoquiam Police Department.

When Hoquiam police officers arrived, they learned that the driver was the same person who was arrested last week when he used a suspended license when signing in as a visitor at the Hoquiam jail, according to a release.

The injured passenger refused treatment but had an evident knee injury from the collision. The car was impounded and the suspect was charged with driving with a suspended license and hit and run, the release said.
