Marlys Bruneau, 89 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam area resident, died on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Willapa Health and Rehabilitation in Raymond, Wash. She was born on Jan. 8, 1927, in Wilmot, S.D. to Alfred and Emma (Nowka) Davis.
She was raised and attended school in Wilmot and as a young girl she enjoyed listening to music on the radio and going to the movies. She helped around the house with the cooking and house work. She worked at the Barton Hospital in Watertown, S.D. until 1948 and she came to Hoquiam that same year.
Marlys Davis was married to Milton A. Bruneau on April 6, 1950, in Hoquiam. He died on June 30, 2002.
Marlys had worked at the Saint Joseph and Community Hospitals.
She attended the Hoquiam Presbyterian and Free Methodist Churches. Her travels had taken her to Rhode Island, Cleveland, Ohio and Minneapolis, Minn. She enjoyed watching game shows, embroidery and reading. She fondly remembered the day she was married and will be long remembered for being a mother and grandmother.
Marlys is survived by: her son, Gerald “Jerry” Bruneau (Mary) of Aberdeen; her daughter, Charlene Izzy (John) of Hoquiam; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Darlene, Eloise and a brother, Darold.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Brad Gill, officiating. Vault interment will be held in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam, Wash.
