Montesano 58, Centralia 55

Montesano made the clutch plays at critical moments to earn a 58-55 victory over Centralia on Thursday in Centralia.

Leading 33-28 at the half, Montesano (6-4 overall) turnovers allowed Centralia took a 55-51 lead after Matt House hit a 3-pointer, one of six he made in the second half.

But it was the Bulldogs that made the plays in crunch time. Trace Ridgway made two free throws to cut the deficit to 55-53. Wesley Bjornsgard then hit the shot of the game, drilling a clutch three to give Monte a 56-55 lead with just 16 seconds left in the game.

Centralia missed its chance to take the lead on the ensuing possession and, after Monte secured the rebound, tried to foul Bjornsgard in the corner after an inbound pass. But Bjornsgard found Ridgway in the low block, who scored to give Monte the 58-53 victory.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Bjornsgard’s 16 points and nine rebounds.

Ridgway scored 12 point and grabbed eight boards. Braden Dohrmann scored 10 points and dished out five assists while Ben Wills added 10 points for Monte.

Northwest Christian 71, North Beach 51

North Beach struggled in the second quarter and couldn’t catch up as the Hyaks fell to Northwest Christian 71-51 on Thursday at North Beach High School.

A combination of North Beach shots failing to fall and NWC (8-1 overall, 6-1 Pacific 2B) catching fire led to the Wolverines outscoring the Hyaks 27-6 in the second frame.

“We couldn’t buy a basket and they couldn’t miss,” North Beach head coach Larry Moore said.

North Beach (1-8, 1-6)) was led by Reagan Harnagy, who had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Josh Bighead scored 11 points, had seven steals and four assists and Peyton Scholler “had a great hustle game,” according to Moore.

“(Peyton) gave us great energy all night,” Moore said.

Ilwaco 86, Raymond 62

Joe Nisbett was too much for Raymond to handle as the Seagulls fell to Ilwaco 86-62 on Thursday in Ilwaco.

Nisbett scored a game-high 26 points as the Raymond defense had no answer for Ilwaco’s 6-foot-9 center.

“We weren’t disruptive enough defensively,” Raymond head coach Derek Rask said after the Fishermen scored 23 or more points in three out of four quarters. “(Nisbett) made us pay in the post. I thought we played well enough, offensively, but anytime w tried to make a run, Ilwaco would answer.”

Tre’ Seydel (19 points), Joseph Villalpando (15 pts.) and McCartney Maden (11 points) all scored in double figures for Raymond (2-6, 2-4).

Ocosta 57, Chief Leschi 43

Kobe Rudolph’s long-range sharpshooting helped Ocosta pull away from the Chief Leschi Warriors 57-43 on Thursday at Ocosta High School..

In a close game after three quarters, Rudolph hit three 3-pointers, scoring all nine of his points in a two-minute span to help the Wildcats (4-4, 4-3 Pacific 2B) pull away from the Warriors (4-5, 2-5).

Cole Hatton led all scorers with 22 points to go along with nine rebounds.

Kyle Wardlow added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Ocosta, which shot 22-for-52 as a team.

Taholah 68, Tyee 54

Deven James scored 29 points to lead the Chitwhins (6-1 overall, 2-0 Coastal 1B) to a 68-54 victory over Tyee Totem on Thursday at Tyee High School.

Despite being short on players due to two Chitwhins suffering from illness and another injured, Taholah head coach Tyler Crossguns was pleased with how his team dealt with the adversity.

“(I’m) very pleased about our game tonight,” he said as Taholah committed just seven turnovers in the contest. “I couldn’t ask for much more than what the team showed me tonight, getting this big win over a 2A school.”

James also had seven rebounds and seven steals and was one of three Chitwhins to score in double figures. James Orozco (14 points) and Izaiah Mowitch (18 pts.) also finished in double digits for Taholah.
