The North Willapa Harbor Grange hall will take its place in the social life of the beach district again. The Grange hall, which had not been available since the army took it for temporary quarters, is to be opened again. There will be a basket social for a grand opening on Saturday night.
The hall was built in 1931 by the Grange members, donating their labor, on the building site which was donated by Mrs. Annie Hanson. At the time it was on the main Tokeland highway, but now the highway takes a different route.

March 2, 1970
Although emcee Richard Lane suggested that Saturday night’s Sweet Adeline’s show should have had an “X” rating because of some naughty song titles, it got an “A” rating from a sizable audience which thronged the 7th Street Theatre to see the old-time music extravaganza.
Besides contributing the group’s 20-voice chorus, the Sweet Adelines filled out the show with Myron Hinkle’s 17-piece banjo band, the Puget Sounders from Olympia and a number of top Northwest barbershop quartets.
The audience was delighted when two woman members of the band dropped their banjos and did the Charleston. One woman, who looked as if she might have been a flapper when the dance was in vogue, pirouetted with a liveliness that would have aroused the envy of her contemporaries.
The high-kicking matrons topped off the mirthful performance by tossing their garters in the audience.

The current mainstay and a potential star of the future combined to keep Aberdeen boys’ basketball season in the present tense.
Sophomore Nick Chicano scored all 12 of his points in the first half and senior Anthony Mizin tallied 17 of his 23 in the final two quarters to led the Bobcats to a 56-41 victory over Washougal in the opening round of the Southwest Washington District AA Tournament Wednesday night at Chick Rockey Gym in Olympia.
The Bobcats — who have won their last three — overcame a 3 for 12 start to shoot 53 percent from the field. They also dominated the boards, 41-26, with Mizin and Chicano grabbing 10 rebounds apiece.
On the negative side of the ledger was abysmal (6 of 19) foul shooting and erratic ball-handling. The Cats’ 16 turnovers weren’t unusually plentiful but they did come in bunches.
“I’d still like to see us be more fundamentally sound with passing and catching,” said Aberdeen coach Brad Fuhrer. “If we did, we’d make it much easier on ourselves.”
