Grays Harbor County health officials say that COVID -19 test results are back for residents and staff at Pacific Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hoquiam and there have been no positive results since a resident there tested positive May 7.

“We have tested all the residents and staff from Pacific Care Center. The results of the testing indicate to me that COVID-19 was not spread in the facility,” said Dr. John Bausher, Grays Harbor Public Health Officer. “Pacific Care Center has in place the appropriate procedures to reduce the risk to their residents.”

The county’s statement, released Friday, did not say how many were tested.

“We at Pacific Care and Rehabilitation Center have been very focused on infection control during this difficult time and have been proactive in our testing for COVID 19 in the facility,” said Mark Cheney, Executive Director. “I am very happy that our hard work has been fruitful and that we have been keeping our residents safe.”

The number of cases countywide is now at 15 following the reassignment of one case to Grays Harbor. That case was initially counted as a Grays Harbor case, then it was taken off the roll and assigned to Pierce County and now it is again counted as a Grays Harbor case.

A health department statement said cases are assigned to counties based on the person’s permanent residence and because of incomplete or inconsistent information, it’s not always immediately clear where someone lives.

The county’s COVID-19 call center will assist people with testing referrals. Assistance is available in both English and Spanish. Call (360) 964-1850. The call center’s hours of operation will once again be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
