Now that Grays Harbor County is operating in Phase 2 of the state’s pandemic reopening plan, the Harbor’s two largest art galleries are coming back to life.
The Aberdeen Art Center reopened on Friday, and the Gallery of Ocean Shores will follow in about two weeks.
Art Center proprietors Doug Orr and David Rodriguez opened the doors of their Alder Grove Gallery for a “limited” First Friday art walk, with wrapped treats and social distancing protocols observed.
The gallery now is open Thursdays through Mondays from noon to 6 p.m. Face masks will be required for entry. For updates, visit aberdeenartcenter.com or find them on Facebook.
The North Beach Artist Guild is taking a little more time to put its safety guidelines into place, with plans to reopen the Gallery of Ocean Shores on Wednesday, June 17. After that, it will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — closed Mondays and Tuesdays for deeper cleaning during Phase 2.
In the meantime, the guild has set up an online gallery for art sales. It also has begun offering some of its art classes via Zoom. Roy Lowry and Penny Dalton are among the local artists conducting online workshops. For information, visit thegalleryofoceanshores.com.
