Gary (Hoss) McElliott, 54, passed away Aug. 11,2020 at the University of Washington, Medical Center, after a 14-year battle with cancer. He was born in Aberdeen on Feb. 18, 1966 to Bill and Betty (Mason) McElliott.
Hoss graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1984, where he participated in football and basketball. During his senior year he was named “First team all-league” for basketball. Hoss was a “True Grizzly” through and through. He went on to attend Grays Harbor Community College and Saint Martin University in Lacey, Washington.
Hoss then moved to the East Coast, where he spent the last 30 years. In 2002 he married Tiffany Parthe, and in 2003 their son Sam was born. They later divorced but remained a supported parental team to their son Sam.
Sam was the most important person in his life and brought him great joy.
Gary worked for North Shore Medical Center, Boston Massachusettes, where he was a Mental Health Counselor until January 2020, where he instituted, what his East Coast friends defined as the “Gary Session”.
Hoss is survived by his son Sam, who resides in Nashua, New Hampshire. His siblings include: Bob (Betsy) McElliott, Tracy (Rick) Manlow, Kim (Steve) Fogo, Larry (Kellie) McElliott, Steve (Lisa) McElliott, Judi Church, Claude (Kathy) Davidson and Mike (Lee) Davidson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tom Davidson and Billy McElliott.
Hoss had such an infectious personality that many have stated, once you met him — you never forgot him. Many of his friends from coast to coast loved his sense of humor and his ability to “light up a room”.
Goodbye to our West Coast “Hoss” and East Coast “Gary”. We ALL Love You.
The family will be planning a Hossapalooza Celebration at a later date.
A scholarship fund has been set up for his son Sam. If you would like to donate, checks and/or money can be mailed to: Steve Fogo, 542 Sunset Drive, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
