Grays Harbor health officials on Thursday announced a new death related to the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the total in the county to six. No other information was available.

Meantime, a third COVID-19-related death has been reported in Pacific County.

The death had been under investigation for about two weeks and was confirmed Aug. 25. “Due to age and underlying conditions the individual was considered high risk,” read the Public Health statement from Pacific County.

New numbers from Pacific County Emergency Management Director Scott McDougall Wednesday had the total case count at 60, up just two from the previous week. There are two active cases being monitored by Public Health staff.

There were no new cases for Grays Harbor County in the daily statistical update Thursday and three reported Friday.

In Pacific County, after a spike of 12 cases reported the week of Aug. 6-12, three new cases were reported the week of Aug. 13-19, and the two new cases Aug. 20-26.

The two most recent cases have been attributed to individuals who live within the county — the total for the pandemic is 56 residing in Pacific County. Of the 60 confirmed cases so far, 58 are considered “closed” and are no longer monitored by the county.

Updated information has 2,922 tests administered in the county so far, with 2.1% of those coming back positive. The death rate of three is 5% of the total positive cases. There have been eight hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the county since February.

The county provides a map of cases by zip code, not specific numbers, but ranges. As of Wednesday, the Raymond 98577 zip code had 10-20 cases, and the Ocean Park, Ilwaco and Nahcotta zip codes had 6-10 cases each. The remainder of the county has 0-5 cases per zip code, which includes Grayland, Tokeland, Naselle and Chinook.
