The longtime Domino’s pizza franchise in Hoquiam is getting fresh, new digs — and just a proverbial stone’s throw from its current location.
The half-block-long construction project in the 2600 block of Simpson Avenue — right next to the current storefront — will feature a new Domino’s restaurant that will include a sit-down area, a drive-through window and — of course — the usual delivery service upon which the company built its original business model.
The actual building will be 1,135 square feet, according to Lon Howell, Hoquiam’s building and planning official. He said FG&M Construction of Hoquiam is the builder on the project.
“They do have plans for some indoor seating, but we will have to see how that plays out with the virus going around,” Howell commented.
He said Ronglin’s Inc. of Aberdeen was driving pilings on the property earlier this week on the east end of the project site, while the parking lot is planned for the west side, near the current Domino’s location.
Howell said he did not know the planned completion date of the new storefront.
The franchise is owned by Jeff Farmer of Hoquiam, whose family has built something of a small West Coast Domino’s empire with more than a dozen franchise stores from Oregon to the Canadian border. Farmer purchased the lot under construction back in 2014.
The Daily World reached out to Farmer for comment, but has yet to get a response.
