County tops 2,100 COVID-19 cases

Over 50 new cases added, bringing overall count to 2,134

Grays Harbor County has topped 2,100 total COVID-19 cases after the county Public Health & Social Services department reported more than 50 new confirmed cases on Thursday.

The county health department reported 56 new active cases on Thursday, bringing the total case count since March to 2,134.

No new deaths were reported on Thursday — a day after three deaths were reported by the county — as the death toll remained at 24.

Stafford Creek Corrections Center reported 900 confirmed COVID-19 cases among inmates on Thursday in addition to 67 confirmed cases of its staff members.

To date, Stafford Creek reported one COVID-related death of an inmate on Dec. 10.

According to the Washington State Department of Health, 88.3% of adult staffed acute care hospital beds and 88.2% of adult ICU staffed beds are occupied in the West Region, which includes Grays Harbor, Thurston, Lewis and Pierce counties.

Of those beds, 14.9% and 20.8% are occupied by COVID-19 patients, respectively.

Pacific County reported 376 confirmed and 166 probable COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 542, according to the pacificcountycovid19.com website.

The county also reported 20 hospitalizations and five total deaths in Thursday’s data.
