Wind warning in effect all day Saturday

High wind warnings have been issued for virtually the entire coast of Washington, including Aberdeen and Hoquiam starting at 7 Saturday morning and extending to 10 Saturday night.

The area includes the cities of Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Beaver, Clearwater, Forks, La Push, Neah Bay, Ozette and Queets, the Weather Service office at Seattle said.

For Pacific County, the warning is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The warnings project wind from the Southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Wind at that speed can blow down trees and power lines.

Widespread power outages are expected, and travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, the Weather Service said.

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows.

The Weather Service Office in Seattle, which issues forecasts for Pacific County, predicted high wind for the areas of Raymond, Long Beach, Ocean Park, Naselle, Cathlamet, and Cape Disappointment.
