Robert Alvin McGuire, 94, lifetime Aberdeen resident and former purchasing agent for Grays Harbor PUD, died Dec. 10, 2016 at Summit Pacific Hospital in Elma, Wash.

Robert Alvin McGuire, 94, lifetime Aberdeen resident and former purchasing agent for Grays Harbor PUD, died Dec. 10, 2016 at Summit Pacific Hospital in Elma, Wash.

Robert was born in Aberdeen on July 7, 1922 in Aberdeen to Clifford William and Martha (Niffler) McGuire. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1940 and then went to work for Boeing. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Robert joined the Navy. Following the war, he returned to Aberdeen and went to work for the PUD.

On May 18, 1951, Robert married Doris Hepner in Elma, Wash. She passed away on Jan. 25, 2014.

Robert was a 50+ year member of the Aberdeen Elks. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Robert is survived by a stepdaughter, Chris Smith of Centralia, Wash.; three grandchildren: Jeff Snell, Tina Cook and Theresa Dollins; a niece Michele Rognlin; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter Jody Arnsbarger and a brother William McGuire.

Per his request, there will be no services.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
