Second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered this week and next week at the county’s mass-vaccination site, as public health managers try to secure more first doses.
“We will be operating the mass-vaccination site this week, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., performing roughly 830 second doses per day for the 1,655 first doses we did the second week of operation,” said county incident management team public information officer Nick Falley. “Next week, we are going to be doing 450 second doses from two weeks ago on Thursday.”
There will be no first doses administered this week, as expected, as available doses are prioritized for those scheduled to receive their second dose.
“We are still trying to get a first dose allotment for next week,” said Falley.
Vaccine shipments have not come close to keeping up with demand. If there are first doses available next week, the county will make appointments with those who have signed up on the online vaccination waiting list and are in the allowable vaccination phase and tier.
As of Friday, Grays Harbor Public Health said 3,895 vaccine doses had been administered at the mass vaccination site. State Department of Health data as of Feb. 21 shows 14,380 doses have been given countywide.
