“Sh*t on a fence post and hatched by the sun”- Don G. Grimblot
Donald Gary Grimblot passed peacefully at home on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, with his wife by his side. He was 75. Don was born on March 4, 1941, to Donald and Ruby (Rouse) Grimblot in Aberdeen, Wash., where he went on to spend most of his life.
After high school Don had a long and successful career in logging. He traveled to Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and California working many positions. He even carried his own cutting and contracting business at one point during his career. However, after a second injury in Alaska he came back home to Grays Harbor.
In 1989 Don went to enjoy a night out at BJ’s Bingo in Fife and won a jackpot that was later used to purchase the Blue Beacon Restaurant and Lounge. Don had many memories at the restaurant. The best one was on Christmas Eve when he met Charlotte (Jones) Grimblot. Don went on to marry Charlotte on Jan. 8, 1992. Together they celebrated 24 years of marriage and always kept the tradition of their Christmas Eve kiss.
Don loved to hunt, fish, garden and travel. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, family and grandkids.
Don is survived by his wife Charlotte Grimblot; sons Gary Stopsen, Brian Stopsen, Christopher Bromley and Justin Bromley all of Aberdeen; mother Ruby Arts of Oregon; and sisters Debbie, Dotti, Kathy, Joni, and Judy. Along with nine grandchildren and many friends.
A special thanks to his granddaughter Madison Bromley who took the greatest care of Her PaPa who loved her very much.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Blue Beacon Restaurant and Lounge at a later date. To express condolences or share a memory visit www.harrisonfamilymortuary.com. Harrison Family Mortuary is honored to assist the family.
