Dorothy (Dort) Elaine Yoder, age 76, transitioned to her heavenly home on Dec. 22, 2016, in Sarasota, Fla., after a valiant 25-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Dorothy was born to the late Lyman and Margerette (Madge) Kingery on Feb. 7, 1940, just outside of Portland, Ore. Her childhood was spent in Matlock, Satsop and Elma, Wash. She graduated from Elma High School in 1958.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Tammy Gamso of Bradenton, Fla. and Glenda Peek of Satsop, Wash.; son-in-laws, Joel Gamso and Lynn Peek; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arleta Seaman and Ethel Carlson and a brother, Wayne Kingery, all of Elma, Wash. She was preceded in death by a husband Noah Yoder; a son, Brent J. Evans; three brothers and two sisters.
Dorothy will be missed by her friends and family until we meet again. Celebration of Life services will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Sarasota, Fla., on Jan. 9, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. and on Jan. 21, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God church in Malone, Wash.
