Every day in media of all sorts, I’m told America has now been deemed “A systemically racist nation.” They say this land was hopelessly founded for the sole benefit of white Europeans. I also hear bandied about Christian doctrine is hateful toward those with sexual activities outside the purview of Biblical morality. Ironically, I am both a white male, and a Christian. You can call this a straw man argument, but to me it’s something I relate to on an everyday basis exactly as described.
The fallacy found in the left’s arguments in the above charges hinge on one problem: I know me better than any of them know me. And having been a white male since birth, and a conservative Christian shortly thereafter, I think I would have come across any esoteric doctrines of discrimination were there any to be found in either religion, or American tradition by now as I understand them. The last time I looked, none of those on the left know anything about conservative dogma, nor will they engage in a civil discussion in seeking any knowledge of exactly how we see our roles in said system of beliefs.
Not that anyone has asked, but I have always held to the belief all men and women are created equally and are equally endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights in this country. Skin color, sexual behavior, and any other American citizen being included of course, by default. I’ve heard the arguments and accusations of nuanced racism built into the fabric of traditional America, and the “dog whistle” phraseology supposedly hidden in the texts of the founding documents. And to that I say “phooey.” If any of that were true, it would be common knowledge amongst conservatives, and Christians, so if we don’t see it, it isn’t there (at least not recognizably).
In the spirit of no name calling, I will say from my vantage there is only one political group that classify people by their ethnic origin, sexual behavior, skin color and religion, or lack thereof. I must say, to me the source of discrimination does not dwell in the camp of white conservative Christian Americans, nor does it originate in any of our founder’s behaviors or the documents they put forth to help form this land as we know it. We conservatives are not a shy people, if there were a hidden agenda, the left would be the first to know about it, and it would be unmistakable, but it’s quite the opposite. We are the people of no distinctions between Americans, brotherly love, and most certainly we are for small, non-intrusive government.
