Don was born in Jacksonville, Fla. on Aug. 13, 1947, the son of Earvin and Frances Scott. The family moved to Seattle in August of 1960.

Don’s passion was golf and people, and was highly talented at both. His golf career flourished under his father’s tutorship and many notable pros through out the nation.

At Shoreline High School, he was paired with his brother Dan and they won many team and single events, including two state team titles. In 1967, he was a Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) Men’s Amateur finalist. That same year he was a Morse Cup team member. Graduating from Shoreline High in 1965, Don won a four year golf scholarship to Houston University where he teamed with many of the country’s top players such as; Jim McLean, John Mahaffey and Elwin Fanning to name a few. After turning pro for a short time, Don decided that golf course maintenance was a more profitable career.
