On Senior Night, one Aberdeen senior made the shot of his prep career.
Angel Baltazar’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Bobcats a 47-44 triumph over previously league-unbeaten WF West on Monday night in Aberdeen.
Baltazar did the bulk of the scoring for Aberdeen (3-7 overall, 2-7 2A Evergreen), tallying 23 points on 9-of-18 (50%) shooting to go along with nine rebounds.
The senior guard scored eight points in the final quarter.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Bobcats and handed WF West (7-3, 7-1) its first conference loss of the season.
Jayden Watson and Kayden Seibert scored eight points apiece for Aberdeen, which shot 21-for-53 (39.6%) from the field, grabbed 32 rebounds and committed just eight turnovers as a team.
Aberdeen led 22-18 at the half and 33-32 at the end of the third quarter.

Elma 48, Tenino 33
Elma battled through some offensive struggles to earn a 48-33 victory over Tenino in Elma.
The Eagles (5-5 overall, 4-4 1A Evergreen) scored no more than 15 points in any quarter, but hung their hat on defense and taking care of the ball.
“Not the prettiest game for us but we played good defense and took care of the ball,” Elma head coach Jeff Niemi said after his team allowed not more than 11 points in any quarter and committed just 10 turnovers in the game.
Elma was led by Canon Seaberg (11 points, seven assists, four steals), Nick Church (13 points, nine rebounds, four steals) and Derique Richey added 11 points.
The Eagles will play in a 1A District 4 semifinal matchup — for the first time since 2001 — when they host La Center on Wednesday.

Northwest Christian 68, Raymond 50
Raymond suffered a big loss on the road in Lacey, falling to Northwest Christian.
“We didn’t show up with the intensity needed to win a basketball game tonight,” Raymond head coach Derek Rask said. “We knew the key to the game was quality stops on the defensive end and we just couldn’t deliver on that.”
Adrian Quintana led Raymond with 17 points, while Morgan Anderson scored 16 for the Seagulls (2-8 overall, 2B Pacific).
Jaxson Freeman had 10 rebounds for Raymond, which trailed 39-29 at the half.

Elma 30, Tenino 25
Elma earned its first victory of the season in its final game of 2021 with a win over Tenino in Elma.
The Eagles (1-8 overall, 1-7 1A Evergreen) got eight points from Hannah Warren and six from Jackie DeMoss, as seven different Elma players scored in the game.
Elma shot 11-for-48 (23%) as a team and made 7-of-16 free throws (44%).

BOYS PREP WRESTLING
Aberdeen places second at league championship meet
The Aberdeen High School boys wrestling team took second place at the 2A Evergreen Conference sub-district meet on Saturday in Chehalis.
Three Bobcats wrestlers won league titles. Talatheon Warness (106 pounds), Shayne Glowacki (132) and Jaden Hoseney (220) wrestled their way to league championships in their respective weight classes.
Second-place finishers for Aberdeen were Jack Dore (126) and Aiden Watkins (152) with Joel Nelson (120), Tristen Walker (145), Jakob Bowers (170) and Erick Hayter-Ramsey (285) placing third.
WF West won the overall team title with Shelton taking third place.
