Miss Grays Harbor’s Outstanding Teen, Sofia Da Silva was third runner-up at the Miss Washington Outstanding Teen scholarship pageant held May 29-30 at the Little Creek Casino.
The Montesano resident also won the Western Washington University optional essay contest. Sofia, the 17-year-old daughter of Erin Riley, is a junior at Montesano High School. Her talent is vocal, and her initiative is LGBTQIA+ education for teens and adults.
Miss Bowerman Basin’s Outstanding Teen, Ellie Winkleman, received the Director’s Award and the Seeking Sponsors Award. Winkelman was first runner-up at the Miss Grays Harbor Outstanding Teen competition in February 2020.
Miss Rainier’s Outstanding Teen, Chloe Furnstahl, was crowned Miss Washington Outstanding Teen.
The event was held in the Skookum Creek Event Center at the casino near Shelton. The Miss Washington pageant will be held next month at the same location.
Miss Grays Harbor is a preliminary competition for Miss Washington and Miss America. These programs provide young women with the opportunity to win scholarships to pursue their goals. The funds are contributed by corporate and individual sponsors who commit their support to the personal advancement of these young women.
