Frank J. Wood

On June 10, 2021, Frank J. Wood of Westport, Washington was walked to his heavenly home by his wife Lu Wood, son Scott Wood and daughter Lesa Taylor.

He was a man who lived life richly and loved even more deeply. He watches his family — wife, five sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren, plus a host of extended family as he sits by our heavenly father.

He grew up in Belfair, Washington, served as a Navy Corpsman (stationed with the Marines) during Vietnam, retired from the Puget Sound Naval shipyard in 1995 and began his dream of becoming a master carpenter.

His life has touched countless people over the years as he has served with multiple community service organizations: president of the Port Orchard VFW, president of the local Sons of Italy chapter, South Beach Christian Outreach, co-director of the South Beach Foodbank, and hunter education instructor with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

He was never one to sit still. He enjoyed creating beautiful gardens for his wife and crafting beautiful wood creations. He taught his family how to love deeply and to stand for what is right. Frank will be missed by all who knew him.

We will celebrate his life by honoring his wishes on July 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. All are invited.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Frank Wood.
