Dr. Leonard Edward Nixon of Montesano passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was 86. Leonard was born April 10. 1935, in Aberdeen, Washington to Joseph and Marguerite (Eddy) Nixon.
He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1953 and went on to Grays Harbor College. In 1966, he graduated from the University of Washington Dental School earning the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators Achievement Award. In 1966, Dr. Nixon started Broadway Dental Center in Montesano and was in practice for 32 years.
He was a member of the Grays Harbor Dental Society, Montesano School Board, member of the Aberdeen Elks #593 for 53 years, Trustee, Officer of the year 2017-2018, Ladies of the Elks Most Inspirational Award 2020-2021, Olympia Mountaineers and Montesano Lions Club. He built four street rods, a cedar strip boat and enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, motorcycle riding; and rock, ice and mountain climbing.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Louise Nixon and daughter Karen Birindelli and her husband Brian.
He was preceded in death by his son Joe who passed away Dec. 24, 1981, father Joe and mother Marguerite, sister Florence and brother Robert.
