The Mason County Coroner has identified Kenneth E. Koonrad, a 34-year-old single father from Montesano, as one of the two people found dead in a residence in Shelton on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Also found was 32-year-old Tara M. Abernathy. Both were found dead of gunshot wounds at Abernathy’s place of residence on East Aloha Lane in Shelton.

Mason County deputies were dispatched to Abernathy’s residence Tuesday morning to check on her welfare after coworkers reported she had not reported for her shift. When the victims were found by police, Washington State Patrol crime scene investigators were called to the scene to assist with the forensic investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office will release more information as it develops.
