Five-year-old Oakley Carlson has not been seen alive since Jan. 27, 2021, and her disappearance is still unexplained, authorities said.
The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post published Thursday evening, Dec. 9 that her disappearance is believed to be criminal in nature and sheriff’s deputies will continue to search for the little girl.
The sheriff’s office is asking for any information on Oakley’s disappearance from anyone who may have seen her alive since Jan. 27. So far, the sheriff’s office has not received information that indicates Oakley has been seen alive in the more than 10 months.
The parents, Andrew Carlson and Jordan Bowers, have claimed the last time they saw Oakley alive was Tuesday Nov. 30, according to Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office. Carlson and Bowers have given no indication that Oakley is being cared for by an adult and they cannot account for her whereabouts or condition, the post states.
Investigators believe Oakley would be aunable to survive on her own for this length of time.
Throughout the investigation, Grays Harbor sheriff’s deputies have also found that the parents have not been providing medication prescribed to their 6-year-old daughter, for the past 15 months, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office Facebook post states.
The medication is necessary for her physical well-being. Not having it puts her at risk for physical impairment and could eventually result in her death, according to the post.
Prosecutors charged the parents with abandonment of a dependent person in the second degree in Grays Harbor District Court, the post states. The abandonment charge is a class C felony. Bail was set at $150,000 for each suspect.
