Loving father and grandpa, Richard “Dick” Allen Schnase passed away on Jan. 4, 2022. He was born March 4, 1953, to James and Fern (Knutson) Schnase.
Dick was the first child of six, he was his grandparents’ first grandchild, and he remained one of his grandma Lillian’s favorites until she passed away. Dick spent most of his life in Westport. He was the son of a commercial fisherman and he followed his fathers footsteps.
Dick spent many of his younger days on the beach, looking for glass balls, agates and any other treasures given up by the Pacific. He crabbed in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. In his later life, he stopped crabbing and became a log truck driver. He did this until an injury prevented him from working anymore.
He loved to hunt, fish and go clamming. He spent many hours in the woods, at the rivers and beaches of Western Washington.
Dick had two sons with his former wife, Lorrie Ellingsen: Erick G.W. Schnase and Evan A.M. Schnase. He has one granddaughter, Saylor M.L. Schnase, and many nieces and nephews.
Dick is survived by his former wife Lorrie; sons Erick and Evan; sisters Cheryl Seaman and Leeann Schnase; and brothers Micheal Schnase and Thomas Schnase. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Lugene Schnase Glerup.
