Seagulls 81, Wildcats 40

RAYMOND — Kason Koski scored 27 points to tally his 1,000 career point and help lead Raymond past Ocosta in a Pacific 2B League game on Monday.

Koski needed 26 points going into the game to become the ninth Raymond player to achieve the 1,000 point threshold.

“As a team, we were aware of (how many points Koski needed) and thought ‘Lets go get it’ and (Kason) did,” Raymond coach Derek Rask said. “On both ends of the floor, we were firing on all cylinders. We controlled the pace. We got stops and got out in transition and our shooters were hitting tonight.”

“Raymond flat-out our kicked butts tonight right from the tip off,” Ocosta coach Jason Quinby said.

Koski was one of four Gulls go put up double figures as Marcus Anderson scored 15, Kaci Phansisay added 14, and Brian Sida chipped in 13. Devine Souvannavanh added a double-double of 10 assists and 10 rebounds with two points.

Kobe Beck had 12 points to pace the Wildcats, while Richard Dueber pitched in with 10 points. Hunter Hatton added nine points for the Wildcats.

On Wednesday, Raymond (9-6, 12-7) travels to Chief Leschi and Ocosta (4-11, 6-13) host Life Christian.

MENLO — Taking command with a run of 20 successive points in the first half, Chief Leschi topped Willapa Valley in a Pacific 2B League game Monday night at Tenoski Gym.

Up 11-8 late in the first quarter, the Vikings trailed 35-16 at the half.

“In the first half, we were not focused and their height and aggressiveness bothered us,” Valley coach Jay Pearson said. “We’re too timid.”

Matt Pearson scored 17 points and Chad Flemetis had 10 points and six rebounds for the Vikings (8-8, 12-8). Walker Oblad added 12 points for Willapa Valley. Ryon Ashley led Viking rebounders with nine.

The Vikings will be idle until district competition on Feb. 7.

LACEY — Noah Phillips scored 39 points as Northwest Christian beat North Beach in a Pacific 2B League game Monday at Lacey.

Phillips put down five 3-point shots and also cashed in on Hyak turnovers.

“He probably had 15 steals on his own,” Hyak coach Larry Moore said. “We didn’t take care of the ball.”

Tim Johnson had 15 points and seven rebounds for North Beach (1-14, 2-17). Steven Sotomish returned from injury with 11 points and Ryan Turner had six assists for the Hyaks.

North Beach hosts South Bend on Thursday.

TACOMA— Top-ranked Life Christian Academy rolled past South Bend in a Pacific 2B League game on Monday.

The win moves LCA to a perfect 15-0 in league and 19-1 overall.

Hyaks 51, Navigators 38

LACEY — Perfect foul shooting in the fourth quarter helped give North Beach the victory over Northwest Christian in a Pacific 2B League game on Monday.

North Beach’s Reilly Moore shot 10-for-10 from the charity stripe in the fourth to give the Hyaks (8-6, 12-6) a spark in a 20-point quarter. Moore was the only Hyak to shoot a foul shot in the fourth.

“We knew it was going to be a battle coming in and the girls were ready for it and they didn’t let up,” North Beach assistant coach Jessica Preisinger said. “They always say defense wins games, well, sometimes foul shots do too.”

Hannah Avery led the Hyaks with 16 points, while Moore finished with 15 points. Helen Garman finished with eight points and nine rebounds, while Mariah Vogler grabbed nine rebounds. Adelina Desamours added eight points for North Beach.

North Beach hosts South Bend on Thursday.

AMANDA PARK — Christin Saavedra amassed 21 points and 11 rebounds as Lake Quinault downed North River in Coastal 1B League play Monday night at Amanda Park.

Espy Silva also pulled down 11 rebounds for the Elks (4-6, 6-8), who led 22-1 at the half.

Kate Holmes had seven points and Alliyah Schreck six for North River (0-10 in league).

Lake Quinault hosts Taholah tonight. On Thursday, North River travels to Oakville.

TACOMA — Life Christian Academy fended off a South Bend comeback for a Pacific 2B League victory Monday night at Tacoma.

Down by 16 on two occasions, the Indians (6-9, 8-11) twice closed the margin to six in the second half.

“I really have to hand it to the girls for staying under control and battling back,” South Bend coach Gary Wilson said.

Karley Reidinger had 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Tribe. Teammate Jessica Sanchez contributed 11 rebounds and four assists.

The Indians travel to North Beach on Thursday.
