Toby Heggie, the son of Rick and Mona Heggie, has been named Aberdeen Rotary Student of the Month for January 2022.
Toby has participated in Food Ball and other school-related fundraisers throughout his high school career and has participated in football (four years), basketball (three years) and baseball (three years) while attending Aberdeen High School. He has lettered the past four years in football serving as one of the captains this year.
During the past four years, Toby states he has made lifelong friendships with teammates and has truly appreciated the dedication, time, hard work and leadership shown to him by his coaches.
He is very committed to weight training and physical fitness. During his senior year he was awarded the John Mashin Award for Toughness and also earned the Ken Waite “Hum Babe” award.
One of his coaches said “Toby is one of those special young men that you will always remember for his character and work ethic. He has many great qualities, such as leadership, respect, reliability and determination. Toby is one of the most committed players I have known.”
Toby was honored to receive the Ken Waite “Hum Babe” award.
He has a 3.45 gpa and plans to attend Central Washington University to play football, while studying to become a fireman/paramedic.He plans to return to the area to volunteer with future AHS football teams. He wants time to help out like many did to help with the football team before, during and after the football seasons.
