Thomas Eugene Petrich, age 86, a lifetime resident of the Harbor, died on Jan. 12, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Tom was born on April 12, 1935, in Hoquiam to Frank and Mary (Polish) Petrich.
He attended Hoquiam schools, where in the fifth grade, he and Diane R. Thetford became sweethearts through Junior and Senior High school. The couple has now been married for 67 years.
In 1953, he graduated from Hoquiam High School. He then attended Grays Harbor College prior to working at a shake mill. He would later work for West Coast Plywood, Fogde & Jensen until Mr. Fogle retired, then Jack Root Construction, from which he retired.
He loved his grandkids, great-grandkids, fishing, camping, woodworking, and traveling to Hawaii and Reno. Tom always enjoyed visiting with people and his many friends.
Tom had been a member of the Laborer’s Union, Hoquiam Eagles, Hoquiam Presbyterian Church and when the churches merged, the Saron Lutheran and Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his Diana, surviving relatives include two daughters, Vicki E. (Michael) Lentz of Aberdeen and Toni Dawn Black of Hoquiam; grandchildren, Sarah Ainsworth (Brandon), Sheena Paylor (Benjamin), Marshall Lentz (Cassie), Tyson Black (Ashley) and Nancy Black (Justin Reed) and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded by two brothers, Donald and Edward Petrich and a son-in-law, Charlie Black.
A private urn committal will take place at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
