OYEHUT — South Bend’s Jessica Sanchez drained a 3-point basket with 28 seconds left from the corner in what turned into the game-winning basket over North Beach in this Pacific 2B League finale on Thursday.

The Hyaks got a chance in the final seconds for a game-winner, but the long-range shot fell away.

On Monday, North Beach (8-8, 12-7) will host the Central No. 5 seed, while South Bend (7-9, 9-11) will travel to the Central No. 3 seed in the opening round of the District IV 2B girls tournament.

“It was a tough basketball game,” South Bend head coach Gary Wilson said. “We got a good lead to start and it helped later on. North Beach fought back to get the lead, but we got it back with some key plays.”

“It was a good game from both sides,” North Beach head coach Larry Moore said. “Both teams played hard defense and points were hard to come by.”

Karley Reidinger led all scorers with 17 points, with Sanchez pulling down 23 rebounds, for the Indians. Coach Wilson cited Hannah Byington for her defense on Reilly Moore, who was held to just six points on the night.

Adelina Desamours led the Hyaks off the bench with 12 points, with Hannah Avery dishing out eight assists and Mariah Vogler pulling in seven rebounds.

RAYMOND — Aubree Gardner led all scorers with 22 points on Senior Night as eighth-ranked Raymond rolled past Chief Leschi in a Pacific 2B League contest on Thursday.

Gardner, along with Mikayla Collins, Winter Newman and Cydney Flemetis, were honored in a pre-game ceremony on their final home game of their careers.

“They are all four-year letterwinners; we’re going to miss them next year,” Raymond head coach Jason Koski said.

Flemetis finished with 11 rebounds, five assists and three stelas, while Collins added six rebounds and three steals to her 12 points. Raymond had 15 assists off its 24 field goals on the night and forced 36 turnovers.

On Saturday, Raymond (14-1, 17-2) travels to Life Christian Academy for a noon tip-off. If Raymond wins, it’ll secure the No. 1 district berth entering Monday’s opening round. A loss will give Raymond the No. 2 seed. In either case, they will open district at home.

At Sam Benn Gym, visiting Rochester shot the lights out at the free-throw line, converting all 12 second-half shots and missed just two in 20 free throws to edge out Aberdeen in this Evergreen 2A Conference matchup on Thursday.

Dani Buckman led the Bobcats (1-7, 6-12) with 11 points, with Reagan Glanz adding 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Mari Rabung also pulled in six rebounds.

“They had great foul shooing; you don’t see high school teams hit like that,” AHS head coach Jeff Niemi said. “We fouled too much. Once we had to foul, they were deadly.”

On Saturday, Aberdeen hosts fourth-ranked Chehalis.

WISHKAH — Led by a 16-point effort from Kayleah McCrory and a triple-double by Nettie Grover, Taholah defeated Wishkah in a Coastal 1B League game on Thursday.

Taholah (10-1, 12-7) jumped out to a 9-point lead after one quarter and stayed ahead the rest of the way.

Grover finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks for the Chitwhins, while Denise Dolan added 10 points, six assists and five steals and Celisha Ralston added nine rebounds.

Erica Bomhoff finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Loggerettes. Brooke Haskey grabbed 11 rebounds and Megan Hill grabbed seven rebounds for Wishkah.

“I think we played pretty well,” Wishkah coach Dave Busz said. “Our eighth-graders, Haskey, (Baylee) Buchanan and Perron, came in and played well.”

On Saturday, Wishkah (4-7, 7-9) hosts Oakville and Taholah travels to Naselle. A win for the Chitwhins on Saturday will mean the No. 1 seed in the District IV 1B Tournament, while a loss would mean the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

AMANDA PARK — Naselle held Lake Quinault scoreless in the first quarter and rolled to victory in a Coastal 1B League game on Thursday.

The Comets jumped out to a 15-0 lead after one quarter and led throughout the contest.

“It was a rough night for the girls,” Lake Quinault coach Chris Christiansen said. “They played hard. Naselle is a fast team.”

Espy Silva led the Elks with eight points.

Lake Quinault travels to Naselle for a rematch with the Comets in the first round of the District IV 1B tournament on Tuesday.

WISHKAH — Four players scored in double figures as fourth-ranked Taholah trounced Wishkah in a Coastal 1B League game Thursday night at Brian Eager Memorial Gym.

Terrance Jones scored 18 points to pace the Chitwhins (11-0, 17-2). Tom Anderson added 13 points and seven steals, Jesse Purdy 13 points and six rebounds and Brett Orozco 11 points for Taholah.

“We just played steady half-court defense, trapped a little bit and shot pretty decent,” Taholah coach Mike Rose said.

Levi Jackson contributed nine rebounds and four assists for the Chitwhins. Rose also cited the work of his reserves, who played much of the second and fourth quarters.

Will Fultz scored seven points and Hunter Wilbur five for Wishkah (0-11, 0-16)

On Saturday, Taholah visits Naselle and the Loggers host Oakville in league finalés.

OYEHUT — In the season finale for both teams, North Beach’s defense on Drew Rose allowed it to pull away for this Pacific 2B League win on Thursday.

On Senior Night, Christopher You, Elijah Ewing, Tim Johnson, Ryan Turner and Diego Gonzalez were honored in pre-game ceremonies. Johnson led the Hyaks (2-14, 3-17) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Rose led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Jack Graves added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Indians (1-15, 1-19).

“We started to pay more attention to Rose, who is a good shooter, and we started to slow them down,” North Beach head coach Larry Moore said. “Offensively, we made some free throws, because we haven’t made many of them in the past. And, I congratulate the seniors on their hard work.”

South Bend head coach Manuel Rangel praised his team for the effort they put forth in practice and games this season.
