Brenda Lilah Battersby, formally a Cosmopolis resident for over 29 years, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Cedar Ridge Bonney Lake, Washington. Brenda was 88 years old.
Brenda was born on October 9, 1933 to Richard Kenneth Buck and Lilah Roberta Buck (nee Eubanks) in San Jose, California. Brenda was raised in San Jose and graduated from San Jose High School in 1951.
She met and married Leslie Charles “Charlie” Battersby on June 14, 1952. Together Brenda and Charlie raised 5 children in San Jose, California. Brenda and Charlie relocated to Hoquiam, Washington in 1979 after Charlie accepted the City of Hoquiam City Engineer position. After Charlie’s retirement in 1984, Brenda and Charlie extensively traveled across the United States and Canada for several years.
Brenda was an active member at Calvin Presbyterian Church in San Jose, California and First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen, Washington. Brenda also was a proficient piano player and an avid seamstress and quilter her entire life.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband Charlie (2016) and her eldest son George of Salinas, California (2020).
She is survived by her sons Leslie of Santa Clara, California, Bert of Olympia, Washington and daughters Carol of Sacramento, California, and Ruth of Munising, Michigan, along with 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Brenda is also survived by her sister Johanna of Cottonwood, California.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Sumner Family Church 1400 Silver St. Sumner, WA 98390
