Ocosta’s Miki Ness led an offensive eruption in a 10-2 rout over Winlock on Wednesday in Westport.
Ness scored seven goals in the victory to help Ocosta snap a winless streak of three games this season.
Ocosta (1-2-1 overall) opened the scoring when defender Gabby Ness scored her first career goal when she stole a clearance and sniped a hard shot into the left corner from 30 yards out in the fifth minute.
Natalie Carloza doubled Ocosta’s lead when she stole a pass, dribbled though four Winlock defenders then buried a shot from 20 yards out in the 20th minute.
One minute later, Carloza sent a corner kick toward Miki Ness, who scored at the near post for a 3-0 lead.
Miki Ness then scored on a breakaway, on a pass from Carloza and — after a Winlock goal — scored on a direct kick to give the senior forward four goals in the first half.
With Ocosta leading 6-2 at the half, Meghan Denny scored off a rebound before three straight goals from Miki Ness, two on assists from Scarlett Nelson followed by a breakaway goal.
Ocosta keeper Mia Saunders held Winlock scoreless in the second half, blocking a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.
“We really improved our passing and aggressiveness tonight,” Wildcats head coach Mike King said. “It was nice to see the girls put it together tonight.”
Ocosta will play at Coupeville at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
