It was a busy night in the prep volleyball seasons as eight Twin Harbors teams took to the court on Thursday.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Castle Rock 3, Montesano 0

Montesano lost in straight sets to Castle Rock on Thursday in Montesano.

Monte (2-5 overall) lost by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-20 in a hard-fought match.

The Bulldogs were led by libero Ashlyn Devereaux (8 digs, 2 kills), Karissa Otterstetter (10 assists) and Jordan Karr (8 assists).

“The score can be deceiving. The three sets took about 90 minutes,” Montesano head coach Pat Pace said. “The girls battled against CR. We are halfway through the season and we are still improving.”

Montesano will face Tenino at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Tenino.

Rochester 3, Aberdeen 1

Aberdeen lost 3-1 in a 2A Evergreen Conference matchup against Rochester on Thursday at Rochester High School.

Aberdeen (0-3, 0-2 2A Evergreen) lost 25-20,25-20, 18-25 and 25-18.

“We struggled finding our momentum in the first two matches. We are really working on our mental game and we found our voices and groove in the third match,” Aberdeen head coach Desiree Glanz said. “We are improving every game and will continue to work.”

Zoe Vessey was cited by Glanz for her quickness and accuracy with her digs in leading the Bobcats defense.

Aberdeen will take on Tumwater at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Aberdeen.

Raymond 3, Forks 2

Raymond remained undefeated on the season with a 3-2 win over Forks on Thursday in Forks.

Raymond (6-0, 4-0 2B Pacific) won 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 24-26 and 16-14.

Karsyn Freeman led the Seagulls with 11 kills and went 36-for-39 service receptions as Forks attacked the Raymond sophomore in an attempt to keep her out of rhythm.

Alia Enlow (9 blocks, 7 stuff blocks, 8 kills) was solid at the net for Raymond with Jolie Dunn, Baylee Price and Kyndal Koski being key to the Seagulls defensive effort.

“Our youth really showed tonight,” Raymond head coach Julie Jewell said. “We played tight too often and made errors that were uncharacteristic of us, but this was the most intense game most of my team has played.”

Raymond now sits alone in first place in the 2B Pacific League and will host North Beach at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.

Stevenson 3, Elma 2

Elma rallied to force a fifth set but ultimately lost to Stevenson 3-2 on Thursday in Elma.

Elma (3-3) lost by scores of 25-20, 17-25, 15-25, 25-17 and 12-15.

The Eagles were led by Brooklyne Swarts (7 aces, 6 kills, 10 assists, 15 digs), Torrey Thompson (11 kills, 2 blocks), Aubrey Moore (14 assists) and Ally Warren (20 digs).

“We played great tonight as a team. It was a true team effort against a strong Stevenson team,” Elma head coach Kendra Dunn said. “I am proud of how well we played and how we kept fighting throughout the whole match.”

Ocosta 3, South Bend 0

Ocosta earned a straight-set victory over South Bend on Thursday in Westport.

Ocosta won 25-18, 25-17 and 25-14.

The Wildcats (3-3, 3-1 2B Pacific) were led by Alexia Bradley (15 kills, 10 solo blocks), Brynn Rasmus (20-20 service, 20 assists) and Noel Cuzdey (100% serve receive, 11 digs).

“Our passing was solid, which allowed our offense to get going,” Ocosta head coach Erin Snider said. “I am incredibly pleased with the intensity, confidence and energy this team played with tonight.”

South Bend (1-3, 1-2) was led by Makaylee Kuiken (18-18 service) and Fatima Delgado (11 digs).

“We struggled with consistency tonight,” South Bend head coach Kelsey Staats said. “We lost our ‘fight’ throughout the match, and the scores reflect that.”

South Bend won the junior varsity match 3-0.

Taholah 3, Wishkah Valley 0

Taholah beat Wishkah Valley in straight sets on Thursday at Wishkah Valley High School.

Taholah won 25-9, 25-11 and 25-13.

“Overall, with only a few returning players, the team is young and inexperienced,” Wishkah head coach Katerina Eaton said. “We struggled on serve-receive tonight.”

Aberdeen’s Boling leads Bobcats to league win

Aberdeen senior Wil Boling placed first to lead the Bobcats to a team victory in a three-way meet against WF West and Black Hills on Wednesday in Chehalis.

Boling ran a first-place time of 16:49.57 — a personal best — to lead the Bobcats to 38 points, edging Black Hills (40 points) and WF West (42) for the boys team title.

Aberdeen sophomore Henry Nelson placed second with a time of 18:00.79 with Bobcats sophomore Jacob Hallak (19:04.54) placing sixth, both running personal-best times.

Aberdeen defeated Black Hills 232-238 on Thursday at Grays Harbor Country Club in Cosmopolis.

Aberdeen’s Baylor Ainsworth took Medalist honors with a score of 42 for his 9-hole round.
