Early-morning blaze savages house

The call came in around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

At 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Grays Harbor Fire District 2 jumped into action responding to a residential fire about 10 miles northeast of Aberdeen.

Alerted by fire alarms, the five occupants of the residence, located on the 200 block of Old Wynoochee Road, were able to evacuate according to a news release from Lt. James Sande of Fire District 2.

Montesano Fire Department and Fire District 10 were also called out to provide mutual support; 15 personnel in total were deployed to extinguish the fire, Sande said in the news release.

One occupant was treated for minor burns to their hand, Sande said. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
