UPDATE: Added Hoquiam, Ocosta, Lake Quinault and Wishkah Valley game information.
Raymond-South Bend found out firsthand what every other opponent of the top-ranked Napavine has discovered this season — the Tigers are incredibly good.
The Tigers (8-0 overall, 7-0 2B Central-North) scored 41 points in the first half en route to handing RSB (6-2, 3-2) a 54-0 defeat on Friday in Napavine.
Napavine quarterback Ashton Demarest was involved in the three first-quarter touchdowns, scoring on runs of four and one yard sandwiched around tossing a 48-yard touchdown pass to Colin Shields.
Napavine’s Austin Chapman scored on a 4-yard run to cash in on an RSB fumble deep in its own territory to put Napavine up 28-1 after one quarter of play.
A Demarest 55-yard touchdown runs followed by a 6-yard scoring run by Cael Stanley, capped Tigers’ first-half scoring blitz.
Napavine scored 34 points before the Ravens recorded a first down.
“(Napavine) is always a well-coached and athletic team overall. They are fast and aggressive on both sides of the ball,” RSB head coach Luke Abbott said. “After the first half and seeing how talented that team was, the most important part was how are we going to respond? Do we fold up shop or do we fight? I am very proud of how our kids approached the second half. We didn’t back down and we played the game of football in an honorable manner.”
RSB sits in a tied for third place in the league with Morton-White Pass and will face the Timberwolves at 7 p.m. on Thursday in South Bend.

We struggled with their size and speed,” Hoquiam head coach Jeremy McMillan said. “This was a good match up for us for the weeks ahead. I was really happy with our senior leadership and how well the team kept their composure. They made big plays when it mattered most. We had multiple athletes step up and play different positions when needed.”
