With school districts across the country being back in session for almost three months, the rise in parent involvement in their children’s education has been notable since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For one Grays Harbor school district, a position opening could provide more access for parents wanting to know more about what happens in their children’s school.
The Elma School District Board of Directors is accepting letters of interest from individuals that are interested in filling the vacant position of District 1 on the Elma School Board.
According to A’Dee Walker, who works for the Elma School District, the position opened recently after Jody Thompson resigned for “personal reasons.” She stated that as of Nov. 15 there have been no inquiries into the position.
People who are interested in the position must have residency in the Elma School District 1 boundaries and submit a letter of interest before Dec. 30 at 3:30 p.m. to 1235 Monte Elma Road, in Elma. District 1 boundaries can be found on the Elma School District website under “Our District, School Board of Directors, Director District Boundaries.”
