Casey “Dontae” Tibbs, age 22, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington.
Casey was born on March 29, 2000, in Aberdeen to Justin P. Tibbs and Christiene A. (Harvey) Vaughn. She was a resident of Hoquiam and Aberdeen. She attended Hoquiam High School. Casey had recently changed her name from Casey Nicole Tibbs to Dontae Vincent Tibbs.
She enjoyed drawing, sketching, painting, listening to music, and Pokémon. All her life she had a huge love for animals, especially wolves, cats, dogs, foxes and bats. She enjoyed going to Comicon and art shows. She wandered through life but she wasn’t lost. She lived her life day-by-day to the fullest. She longed for someone to call a friend without realizing how many people considered her a friend. Her friends consisted of those she crossed paths with during her short time on this earth. She never truly knew how many lives she touched. A simple smile, hello or kind act would make her day. If you ever came across her in life, got to know her and took the time to talk to her, know that she appreciated you taking time out of your day to sit with her and listen. Compassion, love and kindness from those she spoke with brought her joy.
She is survived by her daughter Amber Tibbs of Aberdeen; her mother and step-father Christiene and Mark Vaughn of Montesano; her father Justin Tibbs of Montesano; brothers: Austin Tibbs of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; and Zane and Colton Vaughn of Montesano, sisters: Lauren and Mia Tibbs, Penelope and Fallon Vaughn all of Montesano; grandparents: Dawn (Jones) Causey of Aberdeen, Miguel Harvey Sr. of Montesano and Dolores Bovencamp of Eureka, California; and great-grandparents: Clinton Sr. and Maxine Jones of Montesano.
Her burial will take place Friday, Dec. 2 at 12 p.m. at Wynooche Cemetery, Montesano, Washington.
There will be a celebration of life held for her on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 12 p.m. at Central Park Neighborhood Church (7010 Bryrwood Drive, Aberdeen, Washington). A potluck reception will follow. Please come and show your love and support for her and share your stories, memories and interactions.
