Patricia Ann Brown peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones at her daughter’s home in McCleary, Washington on Dec. 18, 2022.
Patricia was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Winona, Washington. Patricia was the eighth child born out of 10 to Ora Ray and Margaret Mae (Ellis) DeHart. The family moved to different areas before settling in Aberdeen, Washington. Patricia attended local schools as well as Aberdeen High School. On March 18, 1950, she married Don Wallace Brown Junior of Aberdeen. They had four children. Don died in 1994 after 44 years of marriage.
Patricia went to work outside her home after her children were in school. She worked a variety of jobs, her last being the assistant cook in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s School. Patricia was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. She was a member of Saint Theresa’s Guild; was once the president of the Altar Society and at one time was active in Eagle Auxiliary. She was passionate about helping others and had the most gracious and thankful heart.
Patricia had many hobbies and talents. She loved painting barns, countryside and the sea. She was blessed with the talent of playing the piano by ear. Pat loved gathering with her family and friends. She was a wonderful hostess and cook, sharing her favorite dishes.
She loved to travel, taking family vacations by car with her husband Don and her four children. along the way making great memories and sharing stories of her childhood.
She was surprised on her 90th birthday by her children. It was quite the celebration attended by family and friends. She helped many people in her life by sharing her great wisdom, compassion, unconditional love and being a great listener.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Don (1994), daughter Debbie Libby (2000), her brothers Ellis, Earl, and Jack DeHart, and sisters Helen Boyce, Juanita Chartrey, Betty Chartrey and Delores (Dodee) Anderson.
She is survived by her children DawnAnn Gafford (McCleary), Linda Jelovich (Aberdeen), and son Doni (Lori) Brown (Rochester), her brother Arnold (Roberta) DeHart and sister Lora (Bob) Krause, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend Barb Mallow and others.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice and family members who helped care for her. As Patricia would always say “Love you.”
A Rosary will be held at Harrison Family Mortuary Thursday, Dec 29 at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. Mary’s Church in Aberdeen on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
