In a game without any of its seniors available, it was a freshman that stepped into the spotlight for the Ocosta Wildcats.

Anna Davis recorded a triple-double in leading Ocosta to a 51-23 victory over Wishkah Valley on Monday at Wishkah Valley High School.

Davis scored 27 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had 11 steals to record the first triple-double of her young prep career.

The 5-foot-10 forward, who is averaging 13.1 points a game, went 13 for 26 from the field (50%) and had 10 of her 14 rebounds on the offensive glass.

Ocosta (5-7 overall) led 11-4 after one quarter and 24-14 at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter, outscoring the Loggerettes (0-5) 21-7 in the period.

The Wildcats played without the services of any seniors — including leaders Miki Ness and Alexandria Matthews due to injury.

Junior Brynn Rasmus and freshman Penny Park added six points apiece for Ocosta, which shot 26 of 56 as a team (46%) and snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory.

Ocosta eighth-graders Joanah Rosander and Veronica Gruber scored five points each.

“The young ladies really stepped up and played well tonight,” Ocosta head coach Rissy Ness said.

Ocosta hosts Raymond at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Wishkah Valley will face Lake Quinault at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Aberdeen 51, Elma 23

Aberdeen played solid defense and got a big game from senior guard Maddie Gore in a 51-23 win on Monday in Elma.

The Bobcats (8-3) held Elma (1-7) to 15% from the field on 6-of-39 shooting in the game.

Aberdeen earned a 14-6 lead after one quarter and a commanding 35-11 lead at halftime while shooting 22 of 46 as a team (48%).

Gore led the way with 22 points, eight steals and eight rebounds in another solid effort from the 2A Evergreen League MVP candidate.

Juniors Jaylynn Phimmasone and Laynie Yakovich scored nine points apiece for the Bobcats while senior Litzy Orona was commended by head coach Rachel Wenzel for her interior defensive play.

“Our goal was to execute our offense well tonight and stay out of foul trouble,” Wenzel said. “We were able to do both while rotating many players in and out.”

Elma was led by Emmie Spencer (7 points) and Mia Monroe (6 points).

Aberdeen plays at Black Hills at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The Eagles play at Montesano at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Onalaska 39, South Bend 34

South Bend had a better performance its second time around with Onalaska, but still resulted in a loss 39-34 on Monday at Onalaska High School.

South Bend (1-10), which lost to the Loggers (2-8) 49-29 on Dec. 28, led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter and 24-19 at halftime before a poor-shooting second half led to the five-point loss.

South Bend was outscored 16-6 in the third quarter and 9-4 over the final eight minutes of the game.

“We played much better tonight than we did the first time we played Onalaska,” South Bend head coach Jon Schray said. “Our shooting went ice cold in the second half and we missed some key rotations with our help defense that resulted in us losing a close game.”

Raydynn Morley and Ava Pine scored in double figures for South Bend with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

South Bend will play at Raymond at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
