Dottie Dimples Barreith, 96, a long-time resident of Montesano, Washington, passed away on April 4, 2023.

Dottie was born on February 22, 1927, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She was the second of three children born to Henry and Fanny (Farnsworth) Kolbaba. She also had one half brother and two half sisters.

She graduated from Kalama High School as valedictorian in 1944. In Kalama, Washington, she met her future husband, John Barreith, and they married on Nov. 18, 1944.

Dottie was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, Linda and Rory. She was involved with them in both Girl and Boy Scouts. When they reached high school age, she also worked outside the home, first as an Instructional Aide for the Montesano School District, then as a Lab Tech for two different dental labs in Aberdeen.

Dottie was a master seamstress, hand crafter and quilter. She was also a painter, gardener, cook, writer and avid reader. Both she and her husband, John, enjoyed square dancing, traveling through Europe and Africa, and fishing in Alaska. Dottie was active as a volunteer at her church, Calvary Lutheran in Aberdeen, Washington, and at the Montesano Library.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, a son and daughter-in-law, Rory and Connie Barreith, and four siblings.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda T.M. and Richard Von Hollen of Hillsboro, Oregon. Also surviving her are a brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Marian Kolbaba, of Hood River, Oregon, three grandchildren, Kevin, Jeff and Marissa, and three great grandchildren, Amelia, Noelani and Luca, and many nieces and nephews.
