Aberdeen, Montesano, Pe Ell-Willapa Valley and Raymond-South Bend each picked up wins as we review the Twin Harbors prep football games from Week 3 of the season.
PREP FOOTBALL
Montesano 48, Columbia (White Salmon) 6
Montesano had another stellar outing on both sides of the ball as the Bulldogs romped over the Columbia (White Salmon) Bruins 48-6 on Friday at Columbia High School.
Monte (3-0 overall) upped the ante on offense, amassing over 500 total yards after eclipsing over 400 yards in each of its two previous games this season.
The Bulldogs punished the Bruins (0-3) on the ground, rushing for 488 yards as a team
Senior running back Gabe Bodwell led the way, carrying the ball 18 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns.

Bodwell scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter followed by two scoring runs in the third quarter.
Bulldogs senior quarterback Jaxson Wilson also had a banner day on the ground. Wilson carried the ball 11 times for 109 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 35 yards and 7 yards in the second quarter.
Monte took a 21-0 lead after Wilson’s second TD run and Felix Romero’s extra point with 2:29 left in the second quarter.
The Bruins scored their lone touchdown of the game when senior running back Landon Castilla scored on an 11-yard run with 45 seconds left in the first half.
A pair of Bodwell touchdown runs put Monte up 35-6 at the end of the third quarter.
Bulldogs backup quarterback Tyson Perry scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter with Monte running back Thomas Flink scoring on a 20-yard run as time expired.
The Bulldogs defense held CWS to just 57 yards of offense, all on the ground.
Montesano hosts Shelton at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Aberdeen 28, Centralia 6
Aberdeen ran up and down the field en route to a 28-6 victory over Centralia on Friday at Tiger Stadium in Centralia.
The Bobcats (2-1, 1-0 2A Evergreen) racked up 346 rushing yards on 35 carries to just 67 rushing yard for the Tigers (0-3, 0-1).
Aberdeen got on the board first after an 11-yard run from quarterback Grady Springer put the Bobcats up 6-0.
Centralia running back JoJo Simpson scored on a 3-yard run to tie the game at 6-all at the 6:34 mark of the second quarter.
Aberdeen would regain the lead when senior running back Aidan Watkins capped off a drive with a 1-yard run, putting the Cats up 14-6 at the break.
The second half belonged to Aberdeen as the Bobcats got two big breakaway touchdown runs in the half.
Junior tight end Marcus Hale busted loose for a 63-yard TD run early in the third quarter followed by a Watkins 55-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Hale led Aberdeen with a career-best 171 yards on 10 carries, garnering praise from Cats head coach Todd Bridge.
“You can tell this young man has put his time in the weight room for the previous two years. He ran through numerous arm tackles and just refused to go down while protecting the ball,” Aberdeen head coach Todd Bridge said. “Not sure if Centralia was keying in Aidan Watkins, but our left-side line opened some gaping holes.”
Aberdeen’s defense forced two turnovers – one being an interception by senior Patrick Walsh – and held Centralia to 173 yards, 77 of those on the ground.
“Defense played great all night,” Bridge said. “Centralia threw short out routes and hitches to nickel and dime their way down the field and we kept their drive alive with a few penalties. Our defensive coaching staff had a great game plan, as usual.”
Aberdeen defensive lineman JaBron Brooks also blocked a punt on special teams as the Bobcats were making plays all over the field.
And they’d need it too as the Bobcats had to overcome 16 penalties for 120 yards, a thorn that has been sticking in the side of Aberdeen through the first three games of the season.
“Penalties are our nemesis,” Bridge said. “We need to clean that up and that’s on me. Quite embarrassing, actually. I have to do more to generate self-discipline within our ranks.”
Aberdeen hosts Prosser in a non-league contest at 6 p.m. Friday.

Raymond-South Bend 41, Ilwaco 14
It’s tough to slow Raymond-South Bend’s electric offense when it gets going. The Ilwaco Fishermen found that out the hard way on Friday night.
The Ravens made several big plays en route to a 41-14 victory at Raymond High School.
RSB was led by senior running back Ferrill Johnson, who rushed for 202 yards – including a 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter – and caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Austin Snodgrass.
Speaking of Snodgrass, the speedy signal-caller opened the scoring when he hit receiver Isaac Schlueter for a 75-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and ran for a 15-yard touchdown in the third frame.
Johnson, Snodgrass and senior running back Robby Stigall combined for 352 rushing yards on the evening.
The Ravens put 41 points on the board despite Ilwaco (2-1) doing its best to slow down the pace of play and keep the ball out of the hands of the RSB offense by running the football and using plenty of play clock.
“I can tell Ilwaco wanted to grind out the game a few yards at a time,” Ravens head coach Luke Abbott said. “In the second half, we made a few little adjustments and our offense did a great job. … Our skill guys had a pretty good game and I think we just outmatched them a little bit in most parts (of the game).”

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 46, Wahkiakum 12
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley racked up the yardage in a 46-12 win over Wahkiakum on Friday in Wahkiakum.
The Titans (3-0) had 445 yards of offense – 303 on the ground – and opened up a 46-0 second-half lead before the Mules (0-3) scored a point.
PWV opened the scoring when Spud Swogger scored on a 2-yard run with just over three minutes left in the third quarter.
Swogger’s score seemed to open the floodgates for the Titans as they’d score 19 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 25-0 lead at halftime.
“They got fired up after that first touchdown drive,” PWV head coach Nate Smith said of his team. “And the defense flew around to the ball and did really well today.”
Three more touchdowns in the third quarter – including pass from quarterback Nathan Fluke to receiver Blaine King, who then pitched the ball to split back Cody Strozyk for a touchdown on a hook-and-ladder play – put the game well out of reach at 46-0.
Strozyk had eight carries for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns with senior running back Blake Howard carrying the ball for 15 carries, 97 yards and three touchdowns.
PWV’s defense intercepted Mules quarterback Zakk Carlson three times, twice by sophomore defensive back Cody Mican and once by King.
The Titans will face league foe and defending state-champion Napavine at 7 p.m. on Friday at Napavine High School.

Ocosta 72, North Beach 16
Ocosta scored early and often in a 72-16 victory over North Beach in an 8-man football contest on Friday in Ocean Shores.
The Wildcats (1-1) were led by junior quarterback/linebacker Tarren Lewis, who had a huge all-around game.
Lewis scored on a 24-yard run to give Ocosta the lead in the first half then went on to score four more rushing touchdowns, pass for three touchdowns and returned an interception for a score in the game.
The Wildcats totalled 390 rushing yards and led 39-8 at halftime.
Ocosta senior running back Andrew Martin ran for two scores and caught a Lewis pass for a score on offense while recording 10 tackles and four sacks on offense.
Senior Alexander McGowan had eight tackles with Lewis adding five tackles for Ocosta’s defense.
The two teams will meet up again next Friday when they face off in Westport at 7 p.m.

Hoquiam had trouble keeping La Salle off the scoreboard in suffering a 55-27 loss on Friday at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam.
The Grizzlies (1-2) started well, capping a 14-play drive to open the game with a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zander Jump to receiver Chance LaBounty.
But the Lightning (3-0) took a 12-7 lead after one quarter and scored twice more in the second frame to take a 26-7 lead into halftime.
Early in the third quarter, Hoquiam into the Lightning red zone once again and threatened to score. But a Jump pass was intercepted at the 10 and returned back out to midfield. Four plays later, La Salle found the end zone to go up by three scores.
The Lightning would score 29 points in the second half to hand Hoquiam its second loss of the season.
“La Salle is undefeated for a reason, they are a very good football team,” Hoquiam head coach Jeremy McMillan said. “They have a very dynamic quarterback with athletes all around him. We had too many miscues, penalties and turnovers. We gave them a short field to work with all night and they capitalized on our mistakes.”
Jump, who was named one of the WIAA’s Athletes of the Week for his six-touchdown performance in a win over Fort Vancouver on Sept. 8, rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and was 9-of-24 passing for 98 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Dominic Standstipher also carried the ball 20 times, gaining 86 yards and scoring a touchdown.
Hoquiam’s Javonni Koth (3 receptions, 34 yards) and LaBounty (2 rec., 35 yds.) each caught a touchdown pass while Winston Kaikaka (10 tackles), Jump (8 tackles) and Joey Bozich (4 tackles, interception) led the Grizzlies defense.
“This was a good test for our young team,” McMillan said. “We need to execute higher, minimize penalties and take care of the ball. Lessons learned and we will get back to work Monday to prepare for our away game at Nooksack Valley.”
Hoquiam plays at Nooksack Valley at 6 p.m. on Friday.
