Ocosta kept pace with the top teams in the league after a key 1-0 win over Forks on Monday in Forks.
The Wildcats (7-3 overall, 3-1 2B Central-Pacific) got a second-half goal from eight-grade forward Bristol Towle in the win. Towle has scored 26 of her team’s 39 goals this season, an average of 2.6 per game.
Despite playing without two starters, Ocosta outshot Forks (1-3, 0-3) 10-5, with Wildcats goal keeper Amelia Saunders recording three saves for her fourth consecutive shutout and fifth this season.
“We pulled it out and we got the win, which is impressive considering we were short handed tonight,” Ocosta head coach Mike King stated. “We will get Kennedy Reynolds back for our next game.”
King cited the play of defenders Jonah Rosander, Gabby Ness, Penny Park and Marlee Cobain.
With the win, Ocosta remains in sole possession of second place in the 11-team 2B Central-Pacific League, one game behind first place Kalama (7-0-2, 4-0).
Next up for the Wildcats is Napavine, which sits in a tie for third place, one game behind the Wildcats.
The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Westport.
