SBRFA opening training center to public in open house

Food, raffles, tours and information

The South Beach Regional Fire Authority will open its training center to the public Wednesday afternoon for an open house with food, tours, programming and a raffle.

The free event begins at 2 p.m., said Coleena Curry, public information officer for the agency in a phone interview.

“It’s an open house to showcase our prevention programs and to meet some of the staff,” Curry said. “We want to start opening it up more and getting to know the public and getting them to know us. It makes it easy if it’s a friendly face when they’re going through something horrible.”

The Red Cross, Olympic Area Agency on Aging, Grays Harbor Emergency Management and SBRFA itself will all be present with programming, Curry said. The public will also be able to check out the training center, which has not been opened to the public since its acquisition about three years ago, Curry said.

“It’s been a long time since they’ve done everything like it,” Curry said. “We’re going to have a good time getting to know our community.”

The event will be from 2-4 p.m. at the SBRFA Training Center, located at 805 state Route 105. The event is free and doesn’t require any registration.
