In loving memory of Harold William Burruss, born on September 18th, 1924 in Wallace County, Kansas. He passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2024 with family members present. He was a dedicated and hard-working man with a wonderful sense of humor, he brought joy to those around him.
Harold proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and expressed his passion for music through playing the trumpet in the band and his harmonicas. Born to William Edgar (Bill) and Velma Ruth (Goodman) Burruss. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Edythe Stone-Fritz and Kenneth Allen. His siblings that remain are Franklin, Marie, Patricia and Ralph.
He found lifelong love with Eileen Conner, whom he married on May 29, 1948. Harold’s wife of 75 years remains in the family home in Shelton. Harold and Eileen lived in Grays Harbor for over 40 years including Wishkah Valley, Aberdeen and Elma
Throughout his career at Weyerhaeuser, Harold excelled as a millwright and eventually retired as a mill planner. Beyond his professional life, he embraced various hobbies including woodworking, welding, water sports and playing pool. Harold was a lifelong member of VFW and was in various pool leagues for 40 plus years.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his wife Eileen, daughters Sally Jo Ann Mitchell and Nora Kathleen Bertoglio (Mark), sons Jimmy and Michael Burruss, granddaughters April (Pruitt), Sabrina (Pruitt) and Sylvia, grandsons David, Joshua and Tommy (Pruitt) and many great-grandchildren who will fondly remember their grandfather.
Harold was the heart of our family, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt. We are heartbroken and will forever miss his laughter, guidance, and warmth he brought to our lives.
