Police raid “nuisance” house in Aberdeen

Police made multiple arrest and seized suspected illegal drugs

Police executing a search warrant for a suspect at a residence in Aberdeen on Thursday morning made multiple arrests and seized suspected methamphetamine at the residence.

Elements of the Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Quinault police departments took part, with the county’s Crisis Response Unit in an armored vehicle providing support, while other elements blocked off the streets around the house, located off West Wishkah Street, as police served a warrant on a man living there.

“The guy that was the suspect in the case we were working, is a 45-year-old Aberdeen male. He’s in custody. He will be transferred to the county jail,” said Sgt. Darrin King of the county’s drug task force. “We arrested three more females on misdemeanor warrants from Aberdeen. We arrested one more male on a DOC felony warrant. He want to the Hoquiam jail.”

The suspects were arrested without incident, King said.

“We were just trying to be safe,” King said. “We didn’t encounter any unusual problems.”

Police encountered both a large number of people residing in the house and evidence of drug distribution.

“There were 11 total people living at the house,” King said. “We did locate some additional meth on scene, scales, baggies, paraphernalia consistent with dealing drugs.”

A 14-year-old boy was also located at the house, King said, who was released to the custody of Child Protective Services. It’s the second time in several years the house has been the subject of a raid, King said.

“I believe May of 2022 we did a search warrant with this house. Different people were living here,” King said. “Last time we sent the owners a letter that this was a warning, this is a place of drug-selling, fix it. That obviously didn’t happen.”

King said he hopes the efforts of the police can help make the area a better place for area residents to live.

“It was a nuisance place. The neighbors are fed up. They’re complaining about it,” King said. “You got to do it so citizens can get some solace in their neighborhood, in their community.”
