John “Chuck” Ruiz, age 62, of Montesano, died peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Grays Harbor Hospital. He was born on Nov. 27, 1954, in Aberdeen, to John and Alice (Bombard) Ruiz.

John attended Montesano High School, was married to Catherine Odom in 1978, then Robyn Samples Travers in 1986.

John spent most of his adult life working as a tree faller in Montesano. He had a great passion for hiking and being outdoors, and will be remembered for his kind heart and big smile.

He is survived by his girlfriend Brenda, children Ryan, Cara, Rose and Heather, his nine grandchildren, sister Helen and brother Robert.

May he rest in peace with his loved ones who’ve proceeded him.

John has requested that we remember him with a gathering of family and friends. The date is to be determined.
