Elma defeated Montesano in a girls prep golf match featuring the top two golfers in the 1A class as we look at Wednesday’s prep sports on the Harbor.
GIRLS PREP GOLF
Elma 183, Montesano 209
In a league match featuring the top two golfers in the 1A class, Elma defeated Montesano 183-209 in a 1A Evergreen League matchup on Wednesday at the Oaksridge Golf Course in Elma.
The Eagles were led by 1A state runner-up Olivia Moore, who shot a 1-under par 34 over nine holes to earn Medalist of the Match honors.
Elma’s Sophia Hamilton – who placed 14th in the state last season – and Aubrey Moore carded sub-50 rounds with a 45 and a 49, respectively, and Camberly Burgess rounded out the Eagles’ top four with a score of 55.
Montesano was led by defending 1A state champion Hailey Blancas, who posted a score of 40 for her round.
Maggi Kupka (52), Jessie LaLonde (57) and Kolie Broten (60) rounded out Monte’s top four.
Elma faces Hoquiam at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Monte will compete at the Sibley Scramble on Monday morning at the Alderbrook Golf Course in Union.

PREP SOFTBALL
W.F. West 3, Aberdeen 2
Aberdeen ended up on the wrong side of a pitcher’s dual with a 3-2 loss to W.F. West on Wednesday in Chehalis.
Aberdeen (8-3 overall, 4-2 2A Evergreen) dropped a game back of W.F. West (10-3, 5-1) in the 2A Evergreen Conference with the loss.
The Bobcats took a lead on Alyssa Yakovich’s solo home run in the top of the second.
The Bearcats rallied for two runs on RBI singles by Avalon Myers and Staysha Fluetsch in the bottom of the third.
Aberdeen would tie the game in the top of the fifth on Rylee Hendrickson’s solo home run over the right-field fence.
But a half-inning later, Myers doubled in Lena Fragner for what turned out to be the game-winning run.
W.F. West freshman starting pitcher Taylor Tobin retired the final eight Bobcats she faced after allowing the Hendrickson home run to secure the victory.
Senior right-hander Annika Hollingsworth took the loss for Aberdeen, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with two walks and nine strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Aberdeen plays at Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ocosta 9, Onalaska 8
Ocosta scored six runs in its final two at-bats to earn a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Onalaska on Wednesday in Westport.
Ocosta (8-1) trailed 8-3 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Wildcats offense rallied for three runs on a Noel Cuzdey RBI triple that turned into a “Little League home run.”
Jessie Gilbert capped the Wildcats fifth with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 8-6.
An inning later, Samantha Schlegel singled with two outs and was followed by Cuzdey, who scored on an inside-the-park home run to tie the game at 8-8.
Gilbert walked, Joanah Rosander doubled and Brynn Rasmus singled to drive in Gilbert and give Ocosta a 9-8 lead.
Rosander then struck out the side in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
Cuzdey went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs scored and four RBI to lead Ocosta.
Rosander allowed eight runs – three earned – on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched to earn the win.
Ocosta has a key 2B Pacific League double header against Pe Ell-Willapa Valley starting at 3 p.m. on Monday.

PREP BASEBALL
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 10, Mossyrock 4
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley rallied for eight runs in the top of the seventh to beat Mossyrock 10-4 on Wednesday in Mossyrock.
The Titans (11-2) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth when Connor “Cheese” Keeton scored on a Max Jarvis one-out triple.
But Mossyrock (5-4) tallied three runs in the bottom half of the frame, scoring the tying and go-ahead runs on an error and a passed ball.
PWV extended its winning streak to five games with an eight-run seventh, taking a 5-4 lead on a two-run single from Keeton and followed later in the frame with run-scoring single from Aiden Young, Blane King and Lucas Lusk.
Lusk struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win and secure the victory.
Young had three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Titans offense, which scored 10 or more runs for the ninth time this season.
PWV takes on Adna at 4 p.m. Friday at Adna High School.
