Hoquiam, Aberdeen and Montesano’s offensive power was on full display in prep softball wins this weekend.
PREP SOFTBALL
Hoquiam 19, College Place 13
Hoquiam earned a statement win with a 19-13 victory over N0. 9 College Place on Saturday in Montesano.
The Grizzlies (7-12 overall) had 21 hits and scored multiple runs in every inning of the game en route to the victory.
Hoquiam shortstop Lexi LaBounty had a career-best game with four hits – including a solo home run in the fourth and a two-run shot in the sixth – scored four runs and drove in three to lead the Grizzlies onslaught.
Senior catcher Faith Prosch had a three-run homer to put Hoquiam up 6-5 in the second inning and drove in four runs in a three-hit performance.
Outfielder Chloey Deitrick also had three hits and scored three runs in the game for a Grizzlies offense that had 11 players collect a base hit.
Kayte Sauer picked up the win for Hoquiam, allowing eight runs– seven earned – on nine hits and five walks with three strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Hoquiam has won five of its past eight games and will face Pe Ell-Willapa Valley at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Pe Ell.

Aberdeen 10, Centralia 7
Led by another high-powered offensive showing, Aberdeen defeated Centralia 10-7 in a 2A Evergreen Conference game on Friday in Centralia.
The Bobcats (14-4, 8-3 2A Evergreen) had five extra-base hits as a team, including home runs by center fielder Laynie Yakovich and pitcher Lilly Camp.
Yakovich belted a two-run home run in the top of the first and repeated the feat in the Cats’ five-run top of the seventh inning.
Camp continued her long-ball hot streak, smashing a two-run shot to left field in the seventh. The all-state candidate junior pitcher/first baseman has now homered in four straight games for Aberdeen.
Camp also picked up the win in the circle, allowing seven runs – two earned – on eight hits with two walks and 14 strikeouts in the complete-game performance.
With one game left on its league schedule, the Bobcats sit firmly in third place in the 2A EvCo with an outside shot at the league’s No. 2 playoff seed.
Aberdeen hosts W.F. West – a team it’s looking up at in the standings – in the league finalé at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Montesano 16, College Place 6
Montesano opened the tune-up portion of its schedule with a 16-6 non-league victory over College Place on Saturday in Montesano.
With the 1A Evergreen League title locked up, the defending state champions and state’s top-ranked RPI team hosted the 9th-ranked Hawks (12-5) to begin a week of challenging non-league opposition.
Monte (14-3) took an early lead when all-state candidate Addi Kersker tripled to drive in Liv Robinson and Jaelyn Butterfield in the bottom of the first inning.
The Hawks took a 6-0 lead after scoring five in the second on five singles and a costly Bulldogs error and a run in the third on a Kenadie Schreindl RBI single.
Not wanting their eight-game winning streak to snap, the Bulldogs broke through with six in the fourth highlighted by a two-run home run from off the red-hot bat of second baseman Alyssa Maldonado.
The Bulldogs earned the run-rule victory with a big fifth inning, scoring eight runs, all with two outs.
Run-scoring hits by right fielder Carsyn Wintrip, Maldonado and center fielder Adda Potts put Monte up 12-6 before state Player of the Year candidate Ali Parkin belted a three-run home run.
Bulldogs senior Riley Timmons, also a state Player of the Year candidate, singled in Kersker later in the frame to complete the 16-6 walk-off victory.
Monte had 18 hits in the game, seven for extra bases, and were led by Maldonado and Robinson with three hits apiece.
Kaitlyn Trail earned the win, allowing just one hit and two walks with two strikeouts in three scoreless innings pitched for the Bulldogs.
Monte hosts Timberline at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Forks 20, Raymond-South Bend 9
Raymond-South Bend saw a close game get out of hand in a 20-9 loss to Forks on Friday in South Bend.
The Ravens (8-5, 3-3 2B Pacific) led 5-3 after three innings of play before things got out of hand against the first-place Spartans (14-3, 9-0).
The Spartans pushed across a run with a bases-loaded walk by Ravens starter Ashlee Payne to make it a 5-5 game with one out in the top of the fourth.
RSB reliever Summer Stigall then struck out Kendsie Thompson for the second out of the inning, but Forks responded with further damage as the next six batters reached base – four via RBI singles – as Forks took an 11-5 lead with an eight-run inning.
The Spartans added five in the sixth to go up 16-4 before the Ravens staved off a mercy-rule loss with four runs in the bottom half of the frame, highlighted by run-scoring doubles from left fielder Kami Harriman and third baseman Kassie Koski and a two-run single from second baseman Berklee Morley.
RSB sits in fourth place in a 2B Pacific League where the top four teams are ranked 13th or higher in the WIAA RPI rankings.
The Ravens have a double header against North Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at North Beach High School.
